No Gove 72-Hour Feed
The Gove Sheriff site map contains no roster or 72-hour release page. The 23rd Judicial District docket page links jail logs for Ellis, Rooks, and Trego, but not Gove. That official pattern supports a direct conclusion: there is no Gove three-day feed to browse.
Gove identifies Trego and Thomas as contract hosts. Their public pages answer who appears in custody now. Neither offers a released tab, rolling window, public archive, stated update cadence, or retention rule. Combining screenshots from two points in time would not turn those current rosters into a verified Gove County 72-hour release list.
Build a Gove Three-Day Window
Define the interval first. Write exact start and end timestamps and identify the time zone. That avoids disputes about whether an evening event belongs inside the 72-hour period. A same-day question can instead use the Gove County 24-hour release process.
- Check the Trego and Thomas current rosters and timestamp each observation.
- Ask Gove County Sheriff which host held the person during the full interval.
- Contact each identified host for its last custody event and exact time.
- Request event type, release authority, and destination agency if custody transferred.
- Reconcile duplicate Gove and host records by booking number and custody period.
For a list rather than one person, request an existing release report or custody-event log bounded by the interval. Kansas agencies do not have to create a novel report. Ask for electronic public portions and a fee estimate before work begins.
Use the same boundary for every office. A request that says “over the weekend” can be read in more than one way, while a start and end timestamp leaves far less doubt. State whether the list should include only exits to the community or every departure from a Gove host. If transfers are included, keep them in a separate category. A person moved from Thomas to KDOC has left the county host, but has not been released from custody. Clear categories prevent the three-day result from overstating what happened.
Gove 72-Hour Record Fields
No online feed supplies guaranteed fields. A focused records request can seek the elements needed to verify whether an event belongs in the three-day set. Sensitive parts may be withheld or redacted.
| Field | Use in a 72-hour reconstruction |
|---|---|
| Full name and booking number | Matches the event and prevents duplicate entries. |
| Booking timestamp | Shows the start of the documented host stay. |
| Exit timestamp | Places the event inside or outside the defined interval. |
| Physical host | Identifies the jail that recorded the actual departure. |
| Event or release type | Separates release, transfer, and other changes. |
| Destination or authority | Explains continued custody or the basis for release. |
Thomas may show “Housing for Other: Gove County Sheriff’s Office” on a current record. Trego’s current roster also supplies a jail contact path. These clues identify a host but do not provide the exit event.
Gove Weekend Release Uncertainty
A 72-hour interval can bridge nonbusiness days and catch a late event that a one-day check misses. Still, no Gove, Trego, or Thomas official source located in the research states weekend or holiday release practices. No public source gives release hours, a pickup door, waiting area, or a special weekend schedule.
Do not assume that a court order was carried out at once. Holds must be resolved, the host must process the event, and another agency may take custody. Ask for the physical exit timestamp. Court records establish the disposition or order; the host-jail log establishes what happened at the jail.
The absence of a posted cadence also means a live page might lag an internal event. Save the observation time and call the host when timing matters. For a specific person, use the full Gove County release search path to compare court and downstream custody records.
Read Gove Host Rosters Carefully
The successful manifest image from the Thomas County roster illustrates the detailed current fields available at one Gove contract host.
The booking number, hold agency, and other identifiers help reconcile records. The page remains a present-custody roster, not a three-day release archive.
The Trego roster likewise provides a current host channel and contact point. A check of both hosts is necessary when Gove has not yet identified the physical jail.
Request Gove Three-Day Events
Contact Gove Sheriff at 420 Broad Street, Gove, KS 67736 or 785-938-2250. Give the exact interval, full name or request scope, and known booking numbers. Ask whether Gove holds an existing release report and which contract jail holds the physical event log.
Then contact Trego at 525 Warren Avenue, WaKeeney, KS 67672, 785-743-5721, or Thomas Jail at 275 N. Court Avenue, Colby, KS 67701, 785-460-4570. Request the last event, exact time, event type, and destination. If another agency is custodian, ask that it be identified.
Kansas KORA generally requires a response within three business days. The response may provide records, explain delay, or deny access with a statutory basis. Reasonable costs can include access, copying, and staff time. Ask for segregable portions when part of a record is closed.
Keep each reply with its source and date. Gove may hold an arrest, booking, or transfer entry while the contract jail holds the physical exit log. The court may have the bond or disposition order. These records should be reconciled, not treated as interchangeable. If timestamps conflict, ask which clock and event each field represents. A processing timestamp can differ from the moment the person walked out or entered another agency’s custody.
Confirm Gove Release Destinations
County-jail release, state-prison discharge, and federal transfer belong to different systems. Kansas VINE covers participating county jails and may send a selected-person status alert. It does not cover KDOC prisoners, juveniles, or federal detainees. KASPER is the state tool when a person entered KDOC custody.
| Observed result | Next confirmation |
|---|---|
| Name still on host roster | Call that jail for current status. |
| Name absent from both hosts | Request the last event rather than assuming release. |
| Transferred to KDOC | Check KASPER after the state system updates. |
| Federal or immigration hold | Use the applicable federal channel; this is not community release. |
| Released from county jail | Retain the host event and timestamp as the key evidence. |
VINELink alerts can help prospectively. They cannot reconstruct everyone released over three days. A bounded log request remains the most honest list-level method in Gove County.
A 72-hour result should keep legal authority separate from physical movement. Gove County District Court may show a bond order, dismissal, sentence, jail credit, probation, revocation, or discharge. That entry explains why release could occur. Trego or Thomas supplies the time and destination of the actual jail event. If an order appears late in the interval but the host event falls outside it, do not force both into the same three-day list.
When a host reports transfer to another custodian, follow that destination. KASPER covers qualifying KDOC sentences and updates on working days. The BOP locator covers federal prisoners, while ICE’s locator has its own scope and limited post-release window. The U.S. Marshals Service has no general public detainee locator. None of those systems should turn a transfer out of a Gove contract jail into a community release.
Photographs need the same restraint. Thomas may display a booking image while a person is on the current roster, but no official Gove 72-hour photo archive exists. A photo that remains on an agency post or another site does not establish the date of release. Request the booking photograph by number and custody period only when it is part of the existing record sought.
For a delayed or denied request, ask for the precise statutory basis, an estimated production date, and reasonably segregable public portions. Kansas agencies may charge reasonable actual access, copy, and staff costs. Request an estimate before work begins. Keep Gove’s response separate from the host’s response because each office may own different parts of the same custody trail.
Keep each source tied to its timestamp.
Note: No official source supplies a Gove release-feed cadence, archive length, or weekend processing rule.
